This year I have an extra piece that will be on show at my door. Vampire Countess (from Moonflower Digital Stamps) framed and on display! Introducing Kili Tingatinga Art

Recently I was asked by another colourist if I would be interested in doing a colouring page for a friend of hers that owned a business here in Australia that helps with a charity. She sent me off to to check it and to get back to her. "Kili Tingatinga Art is a Melbourne-based business dedicated not only to bringing this unique painting style to Australia, but to helping the communities that create Tingatinga artwork, where poverty and hunger are everyday realities. Kili Tingatinga Art operates on fair-trade principles, buying original paintings directly from the artists, helping them support their families and communities." They have recently started selling Kili Kolours which are colouring pages. Some of the profits will be donated to an African charity (I haven't been told which one has been finalized, but it will either be Ndoto Afrika who help assist with sustainable development projects in rural and urban communities or Room to Read which is a non-profit organization for improving literacy and gender equality in education in the developing world.

So this is the image I was given to colour and boy did it take me ALOT longer than I had anticipated! As you know, I mostly colour people. And while colouring people usually scares most, I am the opposite! They now come easily to me so I was scared to colour this! Yes, really I was! I didn't know where to start and I didn't know how I wanted to colour it. Pictures usually "speak to me" and I colour the way I feel that it does. My youngest daughter watches an ABC cartoon called Tinga Tinga Tales so I knew that normally for that style, the colours are not what we expect them to be. But with this picture in front of me and an idea of how it "should" look, I was stumped. I finally decided that I couldn't colour it in any other way but my own and to me, this picture said I needed lots of green and bright colours. Now I couldn't do this in one sitting. In fact I had to do it in a handful with a break in between due to being ill and having the shakes from high amounts of Ventolin. But all up, there is approximately 12 hours of work in this A4 image! OMG I can only imagine how long it would take to colour this in it's A3 size that they are sold in! You certainly get your money's worth from them. I found this project quite a challenge for me due to it not being my regular style, but it was a great picture to loose myself in.

I hope you love my take on this and go check out the webpage mentioned above or visit their Facebook page.

Sherri Baldy's new fairies

Well my position on the design team for Sherri and her Besties was alot shorter than I had intended and wanted, but sometimes things don't always go to plan. It was my decision to part ways, but I am leaving on good terms with all of the fabulous girls on the team. they really are a talented group of ladies and I am honored I got to work with them.  Before I left I got to colour these gorgeous fairies that have just been released. For both of these cuties, I coloured the fairies and the house with Copics and completed the backgrounds using Distress Inks.

You can find this first digi HERE

And you can find this fairy HERE
And the house, HERE. This little house also comes with a version with some writing.

Moonflower Blog hop

It’s birthday time!!  Moonflower is a whole year old already and we’re blog hopping to celebrate!
It’s been an amazing year, with many incredible images drawn by Andreia, and brought to life by the very talented design team, and so we decided it would be fun to showcase some of them with a birthday blog hop.

Blogging is all about networking and sharing our love of crafts so we’d love you to play along, leave a little love on each blog you hop to and if you like what you see hit the ‘follow’ button, and we can follow you in return of course! The winners will be announced on the blogs so you don’t want to miss out as it could be you!

We are pleased to be sponsored by Donna Marie for this hop. She is an amazing colourist and has written a fabulous ebook with many hints and tips about colouring. One lucky hopper will win a copy of her book, plus 2 MoonFlower digi stamps of their choosing, and a 25% discount voucher for the store. Check out her Facebook page to see her amazing work.

In addition to the main prize, one lucky person who has left a comment will be selected from each blog included in the hop, and will win the image that the DT member has used.

You should have hopped to me from Jackie!

So, for my project I have used Contemplation Princess.

For the background, I have used Broken China and Faded Jeans distress Inks. I wanted to add extra dimension so used small paper flowers over the flowers in her hair along with Liquid Pearls for the pearls.

Copic colours used:
Skin: E000, E00, E11, E13, E21, R20 (blush and lips)
Hair: W2, W3, W5, W7 and W9
